Hello, fellow CFA Level 1 candidates preparing for the 2024 exams! Nathan Ronen, CFA, here with an important update for your upcoming test.
In a recent meeting between prep providers and the CFA Institute, I received crucial news about an alteration coming to the Level 1 exam starting in 2024. This shift might not change your study approach, but it's vital to stay informed.
What's New in the Level 1 Exam?
Here's the scoop: The Level 1 exam structure for 2024 remains familiar in terms of the number of questions and their values. However, the topics covered in each session are getting a shuffle. Session 1 (90 questions) will now focus on Ethics, Quant, Economics, Financial Statement Analysis, and Corporate Issuers. Session 2 (another 90 questions) will cover Equity, Fixed Income, Derivatives, Alternative Investments, and Portfolio Management.
The Twist: Randomization
What's different this time is the randomization of questions within each session. No more sequential topic blocks! In both sessions, questions will be jumbled, giving you a mixed bag of topics to tackle.
What Does This Mean for You?
Does this mean a drastic change in your study routine? Not really. While mock exams might look a bit different with randomized questions, your study strategy stays intact. It's crucial to remain focused on understanding the material rather than obsessing over question sequence.
